Jeff Sims Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.
Families would sometimes have a pineapple stand in cut glass or porcelain on a side table or as a dining table centerpiece. Upturned they would also double as a ham stand and a large joint, surrounded by fruit and decoration would provide the focal point of a gathering or feast. This handsome and desirable Victorian example has a waisted centre, with extensive diamond cutting and panels of star cut shields. An unusual piece with a practical use. Dimensions below.
