Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regulator wall clocks from this era are precision timekeepers housed in tall timber cases featuring glass glazed panels, turned side columns, and decorative pediments. They typically rely on weight-driven movements and long pendulums to maintain accurate time.

Cases were predominantly constructed from hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or oak, often finished with detailed carvings. Internal mechanisms, pendulums, and weights were engineered from brass and steel, while dials were frequently enamelled white with black Roman numerals.

Authentic period clocks show signs of natural ageing, including slight tarnishing on metal weights, original glass with minor distortions, and hand-carved joinery details. The movement should feature hand-assembled brass plates and gears rather than modern stamped components.

Positioning a dark walnut wall clock against a light, minimalist background creates a striking focal point in a hallway or dining room. The warmth of the timber and polished brass components pairs effectively with modern artwork and neutral wall tones.

Keep the clock casing free from dust using a soft dry cloth and avoid positioning it in direct sunlight or near heat sources to prevent timber warping. The mechanical movement should be serviced and oiled by a professional horologist every three to five years.
