We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the nineteenth century, small glass scent bottles were popular accessories carried in purses or kept on vanity tables. Ruby glass was produced by adding gold salts to molten glass, creating a rich red colour that paired with precious metal mounts like sterling silver.

Victorian scent bottles were commonly constructed from lead crystal, coloured glass, or porcelain. The tops were often fitted with silver or silver-gilt caps, screw lids, or hinged stoppers featuring decorative hallmarking.

Authentic pieces generally feature British hallmarks stamped onto the silver collar or lid, indicating the maker, silver purity, assay office, and year of manufacture. The glass often exhibits hand-cut facets or minor wear on the base consistent with age.

These small decorative vessels are suited for display on a vanity tray, bathroom counter, or dressing table. They can also be grouped with other antique glassware on a shallow shelf or window sill to catch the natural light.

Clean the exterior glass gently with a soft, damp microfibre cloth. Avoid immersing the bottle in water or using abrasive chemicals, and polish the silver cap using a silver polishing cloth to avoid removing delicate hallmark details.
