Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cranberry overlay glass is created by fusing a layer of red-tinted glass onto clear crystal before cutting geometric patterns through the coloured layer to reveal the transparent glass underneath. Popular during the 19th century, gold chloride was traditionally added to molten glass to achieve the distinctive rich red shade.

Victorian scent bottles were typically blown by hand, cased in coloured glass, and hand-cut using grinding wheels to produce decorative facets. The glass stoppers were individually ground to fit each neck precisely, creating an airtight seal to prevent fragrance evaporation.

Authentic 19th-century pieces feature sharp, hand-cut facet edges rather than rounded molded seams. Additionally, original stoppers and neck interiors often exhibit ground-glass frosting, natural wear consistent with age, or hand-engraved matching numbers.

Antique scent bottles function as decorative accents on vanity trays, bedside tables, or bathroom shelving. Displaying pieces near natural light sources highlights the rich colour contrasts and cut-glass detailing.

Clean the glass using tepid water and mild liquid detergent, avoiding abrasive cleaners or high temperatures. Ensure the ground glass stopper is completely dry before inserting it into the neck to prevent sticking.
