Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Plaster sculptures depicting wildlife and anatomical studies gained widespread popularity during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Often created as academic models for art students or produced as decorative souvenirs during the Grand Tour era, these casts allowed detailed reproductions of classical classical and anatomical forms.

Traditional plaster sculptures are composed of gypsum plaster mixed with water and poured into piece moulds. Larger figures often incorporate internal armature made of iron wire, wooden supports, or hessian fibres to reinforce the structure.

Authentic period plaster casts typically feature visible mould seam lines, hand-carved finishing marks, and natural patination or discolouration in unglazed areas. They are often heavier than modern resin reproductions and may show minor surface chipping exposing the chalky interior.

A plaster sculpture works well as a grounding element on a dark timber sideboard, mantelpiece, or within a crowded bookshelf arrangement. Paired with rich textures such as leather, polished wood, or dark painted walls, the light surface of the plaster creates strong visual contrast.

Unfinished plaster is porous and should be kept away from water and damp environments. Dust gentle with a soft, dry camel-hair brush or use low-suction vacuum attachments with a brush nozzle, avoiding liquid chemical cleaners that can permanently stain the material.
