Description

An early 19th-century pair of Coalport porcelain serving dishes from the John Rose period, decorated in the Union pattern, a refined botanical scheme characteristic of the factory’s best Regency production. The dishes are made in an elaborate dessert form with a pronounced sculptural profile and pierced rococo crest, intended for high-quality dessert and serving services. They feature a deep cobalt blue ground with finely burnished gilding in scrolling vine and foliate motifs, and hand-painted botanical sprays at the centre. The quality of the cobalt, gilding and floral painting is consistent with Coalport’s finest work of circa 1825.

A scarce and highly attractive example of early Coalport porcelain, appealing to collectors of Regency dessert wares and English botanical decoration.
