Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian county maps were produced during the 18th and early 19th centuries, predominantly utilizing copperplate engraving techniques on handmade paper. These maps often featured detailed topographical features, hundred boundaries, coats of arms, and decorative cartouches.

Traditional antique maps were printed from hand-engraved copper plates onto hand-laid rag paper. Examples frequently included hand-coloured detailing using watercolour pigments before being mounted in wooden frames.

Authentic printed maps from this period typically display plate marks around the border, visible chain lines and watermarks in the laid paper, and natural toning or foxing along original fold lines.

A framed antique map functions as a focal point in study spaces, hallways, or living areas. Grouping cartographic prints alongside architectural drawings or modern monochrome artwork creates a layered display.

To preserve antique paper prints, position them away from direct sunlight and sources of humidity. Ensure the item is mounted using acid-free materials and UV-filtering glass to prevent discolouration.
