Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Floor standing globes of the 1930s typically feature paper cartographic gores applied to a hollow sphere, mounted within a brass meridian ring and supported by traditional timber tripod bases.

These pieces commonly combine plaster or papier-mache spheres wrapped with printed paper maps, fitted into calibrated brass meridians and set on turned hardwood stands such as mahogany or walnut.

Authenticity is indicated by interwar political boundaries on the map surface, such as the inclusion of Manchuria or Italian East Africa, alongside natural lacquered yellowing and original patina on the metalwork.

A floor globe functions as a focal accent when placed in a study alcove, beside a reading armchair, or alongside dark timber furniture to introduce historical texture.

Keep the globe away from direct sunlight and damp environments to prevent fading and paper lift, dusting the surface and wooden stand gently with a soft dry microfibre cloth without using liquid polishes.
