Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian marquetry dressing tables are distinguished by decorative wood inlays creating floral, scroll, or neoclassical patterns set into contrasting veneers. They frequently feature central full-length or swing mirrors, multi-drawer pedestals, and small upper cabinets or jewel drawers.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid mahogany, walnut, or rosewood, ornamented with contrasting satinwood, boxwood, and ebony marquetry. Original drawer pulls are commonly solid brass, while mirror glass was often silvered plate.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, solid timber drawer linings, and natural age-related patination on unexposed surfaces. Maker stamps or brass plaques, such as those from London makers like Edwards & Roberts, are often found along drawer edges or back panels.

Positioning an inlaid dressing table as a focal point in a bedroom or dressing room balances contemporary minimalist decor with historical detail. Pairing the piece with sleek lighting or modern neutral upholstery creates an intentional contrast between period craftsmanship and modern design.

Maintain marquetry furniture by dusting with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and applying high-grade beeswax twice annually along the wood grain. Avoid placing the item near direct heat sources or in direct sunlight to prevent veneer lifting and UV bleaching.
