Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A bachelors chest is a small, compact chest of drawers introduced in 18th-century England, originally designed for smaller living quarters. They typically feature a brushing slide or folding top, allowing the user to lay out clothing or dress atop the unit.

Georgian period chests were predominantly constructed using solid or veneered mahogany, walnut, and oak, often paired with secondary woods like pine for internal drawer linings. Hardware typically consisted of solid cast brass backplates with swan neck drop handles.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction, hand-sawn backboards, and natural irregular wear patterns on the drawer runners. Original brassware will show subtle variations from hand-casting rather than modern uniform machine pressing.

A mahogany chest of drawers serves as a grounding focal point when placed alongside modern minimalist decor, contrasting clean contemporary walls with rich wood grain. Adding modern table lamps, ceramic vases, or framed abstract art on top creates a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Regular dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and an annual light application of high-quality beeswax polish preserves the wood patina. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer drying or finish fading.
