Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Louis XV Revival style, popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, reinterpreted 18th-century Rococo design. Key characteristics include serpentine outlines, cabriole legs, floral marquetry inlays, and cast brass or bronze ormolu mounts.

Cabinetmakers constructed these tables using a solid hardwood core faced with figurative veneers such as walnut, kingwood, or rosewood. Intricate marquetry patterns utilized contrasting light woods like satinwood or boxwood, trimmed with gilt-bronze ormolu mounts.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, variable veneer thickness, and uneven timber shrinkage on undersides. Ormolu mounts should show hand-chased details and natural oxidisation on non-exposed back surfaces.

Designers position these curvilinear accent pieces against clean, neutral walls to create contrast. Placing modern contemporary lighting or minimalist art directly above balances the detailed wood patterns and gilded ornamentation.

Keep the furniture in a climate-controlled room away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer lift. Apply clear beeswax sparingly along the grain for wood surfaces, and dust metal mounts gently using a dry, soft bristle brush.
