Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in 18th-century France, the poudreuse was designed as a compact dressing table specifically for applying powder and perfume. During the 19th century, Victorian furniture makers adopted and revived this French Rococo form, often producing hybrid work tables intended for needlework and small personal belongings.

Pieces from this period typically feature high-grade hardwood substrates veneered in dense timbers such as rosewood, walnut, or kingwood. Decorative floral inlays utilised various stained fruitwoods, while protective edges and leg mounts were cast in brass or bronze ormolu.

Authentic period examples demonstrate hand-cut timber veneers with subtle surface variations and natural oxidisation along cut edges. Original cast brass fittings show minor asymmetry from hand-chasing, and internal drawers often reveal period dovetail jointing.

Compact proportions allow these tables to function as distinctive bedside units, hallway accent pieces, or occasional tables beside living room seating. Their rich timber tones contrast effectively against clean neutral backdrops in modern schemes.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry microfibre cloth and avoid placing items near direct heat sources or sunlight. Protect wood veneers and marquetry inlays by periodically applying a thin coat of natural beeswax polish along the direction of the grain.
