Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Developed in the 18th century, George III wingback armchairs feature prominent side wings designed to protect occupants from draughts and retain heat from open hearths. They typically incorporate carved cabriole legs, scroll arms, and deep upholstered seating.

Authentic George III period armchairs were constructed with solid timber frames, predominantly mahogany or walnut, complemented by secondary timbers like beech or pine. Internal padding utilised horsehair, wool, and heavy webbing beneath woven wool or silk upholstery.

Authentic examples display hand-carved joinery, original tacks, and period-correct leg construction, such as hand-carved cabriole legs ending in claw and ball feet. Framework timbers show hand-planed marks and corner blocking consistent with 18th-century cabinetmaking techniques.

Position the chair in a reading corner alongside a minimalist side table and floor lamp to complement its historical frame. Neutral wool upholstery allows the carved timber details to integrate into both contemporary and traditional room schemes.

Vacuum woven upholstery gently using a soft brush attachment and treat spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Timber legs should be conditioned periodically with natural beeswax polish to maintain wood hydration and protect original patination.
