Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, silver-plated wine coolers were designed to hold ice and chill bottled wine or champagne at the dining table. These vessels frequently feature classic urn silhouettes with side handles and ornate borders, serving both a practical temperature-control function and a formal dining display purpose.

Early nineteenth-century examples were typically produced using Old Sheffield Plate or fused silver over a copper core before electroplating became widespread. The main urn body was formed by hammering or spinning metal sheets, while cast handles, rims, and bases were attached separately and finished with hand chasing or coat of arms engraving.

Authentic pieces from the Regency era often exhibit heavy cast foliate borders, acanthus scroll handles, and pedestal bases. Indications of age include minor copper show-through on wear points, period armorial crest engravings, and stamped makers or pictogram marks situated near the rim or underside.

An antique wine cooler can be displayed as a central accent on a sideboard, bar cart, or dining table. In addition to housing ice and wine during dinner parties, it can be repurposed as a decorative urn for floral arrangements or indoor potted plants.

Maintain silver plate by wiping it with a non-abrasive, soft cloth and using specialised silver polishes formulated for plated items to avoid removing thin silver layers. Keep the vessel in a dry area to retard oxidisation, and dry it thoroughly immediately after contact with water or ice.
