A very attractive Victorian Gothic Revival oak letter / correspondence box, c.1880. Key absent.
The box boasts finely carved tracery to all sides with two slot openings to the top for ''Answered'' and ''Unanswered'' letters. The hinged lid opens with a key to reveal a divided interior; a compartment for each slot.
The box has some small signs of wear commensurate with age but generally it is lovely looking piece.
