Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian novelty silver pin cushions are small functional sewing accessories produced during the early 20th century, frequently cast in naturalistic animal shapes such as pigs, chicks, or dogs. They consist of a sterling silver body housing a textile cushion designed to hold steel pins.

These items were predominantly constructed using sterling silver for the outer casing, which was cast or stamped. The interior cushion was filled with materials like sawdust or emery sand and upholstered in velvet or silk fabric.

Authentic British pieces feature official assay office hallmarks stamped into the silver casing, including a makers mark, lion passant for sterling purity, town mark (such as an anchor for Birmingham), and a specific date letter representing the year of manufacture.

These small decorative objects function well when arranged as part of a curated vignette on a sideboard, vanity unit, or bookshelf alongside leather-bound books and small glass collectibles.

The silver surface should be wiped gently with a soft silver polishing cloth to remove tarnish, avoiding chemical dips or liquid cleaners that could seep into and damage the original textile interior.
