Harrington Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The exterior boasts exceptional graining with continuity ensured at every join.
Brass escutcheon and brass campaign handles. Key absent.

The lid has two small brass holes in which a book stand can be placed. The original bookstand remains present and fits perfectly as it should. Hidden drawer to the left side pops and returns when released without issue. The continuity of brass inlay to the side drawer area is of particular note.

The lid opens to reveal a large green leather writing slope with inner compartments to both sides and recesses for pens and inkwells.
There is a small chip to the lower left corner, otherwise the box remains in a very good condition throughout.
A stunning writing slope of unusual proportions and design.
