Osler was established in Birmingham in 1807 where Thomas Osler manufactured icicle droplets and began making chandeliers. His son, Abraham Follett Osler, was a good businessman, and after succeeding his father in 1831 the company began to flourish. His brother Thomas Clarkson also joined the business, he focused on creating new designs and opened up a shop on Oxford Street in 1845, filling it with their high quality stock.

In 1851 The Crystal Fountain was designed and made by Osler, it was displayed in the central court of the Crystal Palace of the London Great Exhibition. It was the world's first glass fountain, made of four tons of pure crystal glass.

In 1919 Osler acquired lighting manufacturers Faraday & Son. The combination of metal and glass light fittings were in high demand.

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian lighting from the early twentieth century emphasised lightness, refined classical motifs, and the integration of electric fittings alongside traditional metalworking techniques.

Chandeliers from this era were commonly constructed from cast brass or silver-plated metals paired with hand-cut or etched glass shades.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery, heavy cast fittings, hand-cut glass with crisp edges, and original surface patination or silver plating.

Positioning a period silver chandelier above a dining table or within an entryway provides a central focal point that complements contemporary or traditional architecture.

Clean metal components using a soft microfibre cloth and specialized non-abrasive silver polish, while washing glass shades separately in warm soapy water.
