Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Popularised in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Georgian twin pedestal dining tables feature two central support columns with splayed legs rather than corner legs. This construction maximises legroom for diners while allowing flexible seating arrangements.

These tables were primarily crafted from solid mahogany or rich mahogany veneers, valued for their dense grain and warm reddish-brown tone. Functional components often included brass castors, steel alignment clips, and solid oak or pine secondary framing.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut joinery, original brass castors secured with period screws, and evidence of hand-planed underside surfaces. Natural patination, subtle wood shrinkage along the grain, and historic brass table forks underneath also indicate age.

Pair the rich mahogany timber with contemporary upholstered dining chairs or minimalist metal seating to create visual contrast. Balance the formal proportions by placing the table beneath a modern pendant light or alongside neutral wall palettes.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber movement or fading. Clean the surface with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, wiping along the grain.
