Description

Refined period Edwardian side table with carved cabriole legs

Circa 1910

The four cabriole legs exhibit pronounced curvature and are embellished with deeply carved foliate details along the upper sections

These legs terminate in paw-style feet, contributing further to the table’s sculptural presence A shaped stretcher at the base, also with carved embellishment, provides both stability and visual cohesion, uniting the sweeping contours of the frame

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian side tables produced between 1901 and 1910 often feature lighter, more delicate proportions than earlier Victorian pieces, frequently drawing inspiration from 18th-century revival styles such as Chippendale and Hepplewhite.

Tables from this period were predominantly crafted from dense hardwoods like mahogany, rosewood, and walnut, employing hand-finished carvings, blind fretwork, and traditional mortise and tenon joinery.

Authentic pieces exhibit evidence of early machine manufacture combined with hand-finishing, proper age-appropriate wood shrinkage, natural patina within carved crevices, and traditional joint construction.

Place the table beside a sofa or accent chair as a functional surface for lamps, or position it in an entryway to showcase contemporary ceramics against rich wood grain.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish twice a year along the wood grain, keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
