Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian Revival tilt-top wine table is a small occasional table manufactured in the late nineteenth or early twentieth century, reproducing the mid-to-late eighteenth-century designs. It features a hinged top that rotates vertically for space-saving storage, supported by a turned column and a three-legged tripod base.

These tables were primarily crafted from high-grade solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, valued for their dense grain and rich depth of tone. The internal catch mechanisms were typically constructed from brass or iron, while the pedestal bases were hand-turned and carved by cabinetmakers.

Authentic period revival pieces feature precise hand-carved detailing such as piecrust rims, acanthus leaves on the knees, and claw feet. Examining the underside reveals hand-cut screws, a original brass latch mechanism, and natural age-related shrinkage or oxidisation in the wood timber.

Position the table beside an armchair or sofa end to serve as a compact functional surface for lamps or beverages. The vertical tilt capability also allows it to be displayed folded against a wall or in a corner as a decorative architectural element when not actively in use.

Maintain the finish by applying a quality beeswax polish twice a year along the direction of the wood grain. Protect the surface from moisture rings, hot items, and direct sunlight, which can dry out the mahogany and fade its natural colour.
