Fox Fine Art has dated this Baroque Portrait Oil Painting to the 18th Century.
The work is signed W. V. Kessel and dated 1713, confirming its early eighteenth-century origin.

The Kessel family were prominent painters of the Dutch Golden Age, producing some of the finest works of the period. Willem van Kessel, likely a descendant of the master Jan van Kessel, is known for his allegorical and portrait works, continuing the family’s artistic legacy into the early eighteenth century.

It is unusual to encounter an eighteenth-century painting that is both fully signed and preserved in such good condition, making this a particularly rare and desirable example.
Condition:
The canvas has an old lining and is mounted on a cross stretcher. Light craquelure to the paint surface.

The painting is generally in very good condition with minimal retouching and retains its original vibrancy. The frame is pleasantly time worn and has minor repairs.
