Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Station chairs are utilitarian timber seats originally produced in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries for public institutions, railway waiting rooms, and domestic spaces. They are characterised by robust spindle backs, shaped seats, turned legs, and carved cresting rails.

These chairs were predominantly crafted using native English hardwoods such as elm for the shaped seats, paired with beech or oak for the spindles, stretchers, and turned legs to ensure structural longevity.

Authentic period examples feature hand-carved decorative motifs on the top rail, deeply contoured saddle seats displaying natural wood figure, traditional joinery including wedged mortise and tenon joints, and subtle wear across the stretchers.

A set of wooden side chairs can be arranged around a contemporary dining table to create texture and contrast, placed in a hallway as entryway seating, or used individually as accent chairs in bedrooms.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the chairs away from direct heat sources and excessive humidity to prevent wood movement.
