Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Early 20th-century writing tables, often produced during the Edwardian era, typically draw inspiration from 18th-century Georgian designs. They are characterised by clean lines, mahogany construction, tapered legs, and functional leather writing surfaces.

These tables were commonly crafted from solid timbers such as mahogany, oak, or walnut. Writing surfaces frequently incorporated tooled leather insets, complemented by cast or stamped brass drawer handles and steel keyhole escutcheons.

Look for hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer linings, original brass fittings with light natural patination, and wear consistent with age along the stretcher rails and writing surface edges.

A compact writing table functions well as a dedicated workspace in a living room alcove, a hallway console table, or a dressing table in a bedroom, balancing traditional timber tones with modern task lighting.

Keep the timber and leather away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or fading. Dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply a neutral leather balm occasionally to maintain flexibility in the inset surface.
