Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian silver mustard pot is a table condiment vessel crafted during the reign of Queen Victoria, designed to hold wet mustard paste. These items often feature detailed pierced silver outer sleeves with removable cobalt blue glass liners to protect the metal from vinegar corrosion.

Late 19th-century examples predominantly combine sterling silver (.925 purity) or silver plate with a blown or moulded glass liner, frequently coloured cobalt blue. The silver outer body often features pierced fretwork, chased scrolls, and repousse figurative motifs.

Authentic British sterling silver pieces feature a full set of hallmark stamps including the lion passant, a city mark, a date letter, and a makers mark. Victorian hallmarking also frequently includes a duty mark depicting the monarchs profile.

An antique silver mustard pot can be displayed on a dining sideboard, styled inside a glazed cabinet, or repurposed on a dressing table to hold small jewellery items. The contrast between cobalt glass and polished silver provides visual texture on open shelving.

Clean the silver sleeve gently using a soft cloth and silver polish, avoiding abrasive substances that wear down chased details. Wash the glass liner separately in warm water using mild dish soap, ensuring it is thoroughly dry before reinserting into the metal frame.
