Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sheraton Revival furniture emerged in late 19th and early 20th-century Britain, drawing inspiration from Thomas Sheratons late 18th-century pattern books. Characterised by classical proportions, refined timber selection, and elegant leg construction, the movement favoured lighter and geometric forms.

Period occasional tables were predominantly constructed using dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or walnut. Structural joinery relied on hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, curved stretchers, and traditional shellac or beeswax surface finishes.

Authentic pieces display precise timber joinery, refined proportional symmetry, and natural patination across original wood surfaces. Key indicators include traditional fixing methods beneath the tabletop, hand-worked undersides, and age-consistent wear along the lower stretchers and feet.

An occasional table functions effectively as an accent piece situated beside upholstered armchairs or positioned within a hallway nook. Pairing dark mahogany timber with modern neutral upholstery or simple ceramic decor creates a balanced contrast between traditional and contemporary elements.

Maintain the timber finish by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying high-grade beeswax once or twice annually. Position the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage, joints drying out, or varnish discoloration.
