S and S Timms Antiques Ltd has dated this Mahogany Bowfront Toilet Mirror to the Georgian era.

Designed to sit atop a dressing table, or chest of drawers, in the bedroom or dressing room they are found in a huge variety of sizes, woods, shapes, sizes and qualities.
This is a nice example, George III and constructed from attractive well figured mahogany timbers which retain a good colour and surface. It is also bowfronted in shape which adds great elegance and the shield design mirror plate is always a popular feature as it adds something a little different when compared to the more common plain oval shape.

Although originally designed to sit on top of a dressing table it is of course most versatile and would suit a whole variety of locations around the home.
The mirror plate is almost certainly original and remains in good condition with just a few areas of pitting, or silvering, as one would expect. These areas have been highlighted in the attached images and of course should one wish to change the mirror plate for a new more perfect one this can be carried out relatively inexpensively. The current old plate is very much still fit for purpose however. Overall the item is in very good condition and has received a natural wax polish by our restorers before being offered for sale.
