Regency Mahogany Circular Wine Table

19th century
Description

A Very Good Quality Regency Period, Mahogany Wine Table, Or Occasional Lamp Table, Having Superbly Figured Circular Tilting Top Over Elegant Turned Central Column Terminating On Umbrella Tripod Legs.

This simple, but beuatiful little lamp table is a great example of Regency elegance. It stands both elegantly and proudly and for something so relatively small and delicate it has a great presence.

It is constructed from an excellent high grade of mahogany timber and the top itself boasts great figuring, alongside a good colour and patina. All of this in combination with the incredibly elegant central column and umbrella tripod legs create something which we feel would add a touch of class and elegance to just about any room of the house.

The perfect size for an absolute host of spaces around the home, it is both beautiful and practical. It would work just as well alongside a sofa or library chair in the living room to place a drinks glass on top of, as it would in the drawing room with a lamp perched atop, or even in the bedroom as a bedside table.

As with all our items this table has been attended to in our worksops by our highly trained, skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers, before being offered for sale, meaning it has received any work required to ensure it is ready to place straight into the home, including a natural wax polish.

Circa 1820.

Height 28.25in.

Width 19.5in.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency wine table is a compact occasional table produced in the early nineteenth century, designed primarily to hold drinks, candles, or small personal items in drawing rooms and parlours.

These tables were typically crafted from solid mahogany or rosewood, featuring turned baluster stems and hand-shaped tripod bases held together with traditional joinery techniques.

Authentic period pieces display hand-turned centre columns, dovetail-joined legs fitted into the base of the pillar, and natural wear or patination on the mahogany surface.

A wine table functions as an accent piece beside an armchair, offering a surface for beverages, or placed in a tight corner to hold a table lamp or decorative object.

Dust the wood regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish periodically to maintain the surface finish, keeping the table clear of direct heat sources and moisture.
