Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Karadja rugs originate from the Northwest region of Iran, near the Heriz weaving area. They are characterized by their coarse to medium hand-knotted pile and distinctive layout, which almost always features a series of three geometric medallions along the vertical centre of the field.

These rugs are woven using hand-spun wool yarn for the pile knotted onto a cotton warp and weft foundation. The dyes are traditionally derived from natural plant and mineral sources, creating rich red, navy indigo, and ivory tones.

Authentic Karadja textiles feature a symmetric Turkish (Ghiordes) knot, a sturdy handle, and a specific medallion motif layout: a central diamond medallion flanked by two stepped latch-hook medallions. Examination of the reverse side will reveal natural variations in knot density and hand-spun yarn structure.

The geometric nature and rich palette of a Karadja rug complement both classic and contemporary settings. Placing the rug on neutral hardwood or polished concrete flooring allows the primary red and navy tones to ground a room without overwhelming surrounding furnishings.

Regular maintenance requires gentle vacuuming without a rotating brush bar to prevent fibre pull. Professional dry washing or specialist rug cleaning is recommended for stain removal, and using a quality underlay helps protect the foundation from uneven wear.
