Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French gilt bronze chandeliers, typically associated with eighteenth- and nineteenth-century design periods such as Louis XV and Rococo, feature cast bronze frames finished with gold leaf or fire gilding. They incorporate ornate scrollwork, foliage motifs, and multiple tiers holding candle or bulb sockets.

These light fittings were manufactured using cast bronze or brass shaped through lost-wax or sand-casting methods. Surface details were hand-chased for definition, followed by fire gilding or lacquer coating to establish a resilient golden finish.

Authentic pieces display heavy cast bronze weight, detailed hand-chased relief, and natural oxidisation within carved recesses. Additional indicators include cast foundry markings, original threaded rod constructions, and historical electrical conversion adaptations.

A large gilded chandelier acts as a focal point when suspended in high-ceilinged spaces such as entrance foyers or above dining tables. Pairing elaborate metalwork with minimalist contemporary architecture creates a balanced visual contrast.

Maintenance requires dry dusting with a soft microfibre cloth or horsehair brush to clear accumulated dust. Abrasive polishes and chemical cleaners should be avoided as they compromise original gilding and protective patinas.
