Description

Early C19th William IV oak library table of broad scale and proportions.

Raised on scroll leaf-carved end supports joined by a turned stretcher, having compressed bun feet with concealed brass castors beneath.

The frieze to one side fitted two ‘blind’ drawers with a central rectangular tablet carved with an acorn and oak leaves . The verso of corresponding design with panelled ‘dummy’ drawers. The ends of the friezes with reserve panels, the moulded edge top with rounded corners.

The figured oak top with minor marks and stains commensurate with age , use and purpose. The whole having achieved a mellow colour and patina, has been sympathetically cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Unusually constructed entirely in oak , perhaps made as a bespoke order from an estate oak tree .
