Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in 18th-century Britain during the reign of King George III, these occasional tables feature a three-legged base supporting a circular tilting top with an raised, scalloped edge designed to resemble a pie crust rim.

These tables were predominantly constructed from dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, valued for its fine grain and strength, allowing cabinetmakers to hand-carve intricate columns, cabriole legs, and detailed pie-crust edges.

Authentic period examples feature hand-cut joinery, an iron or brass catch beneath the tilting mechanism, uneven hand-planed undertops, and natural shrinkage or oxidisation marks on the underside where the block meets the pedestal.

Position the table beside a contemporary armchair or sofa to serve as an occasional drink table, or display it with the top tilted vertically against a wall in an entryway or alcove to showcase the carved detail.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or fading, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain.
