Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bizarre silk refers to a distinct style of woven silk fabric produced predominantly in Western Europe between approximately 1695 and 1720. Characterised by asymmetrical, fantastical patterns combining Oriental motifs, architectural elements, and botanical forms, it represents a transitional style between Baroque and Rococo aesthetics.

Lampas is a complex figured textile featuring a primary structure composed of a ground warp and weft, combined with a supplementary pattern warp and weft. This dual-structure technique creates intricate motifs with varied textures, using silk yarns to produce floating pattern elements on the surface.

Authentic 18th-century lampas displays narrow loom widths, typically around 50 to 55 centimetres, with intact woven selvedges. Examination of the weave structure reveals hand-loomed characteristics, period-appropriate natural dyes, and historical signs of age such as surface patination or oxidisation.

Historic silk lengths are frequently mounted behind UV-protective glass as framed wall art to create a focal feature within a room. Alternatively, they can be draped across console tables or integrated into archival display cabinets for added texture and historical depth.

Historic textiles should be kept away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and heat sources to prevent fibre degradation and colour fading. Cleaning must be managed by a professional textile conservator, avoiding domestic laundering or standard dry-cleaning methods.
