Royal Worcester Pair “Renaissance Musicians”, Exclusive Shot Enamel, 1911

1900 - 1920
Description

A rare Royal Worcester porcelain pair, model 143 by James Hadley, reissued 1911. Fine hard-paste porcelain with exclusive shot enamel and gilding. The male figure (“Blind Whistler”) and female mandolin player retain impressed Hadley marks. Rich bronze-green and rose-gold tones typical of exhibition-quality Worcester. The pair demonstrates Hadley’s exceptional skill in modelling facial expression and period costume. Shot enamel gives the draperies a soft, pearly shimmer, unique to Worcester’s finest works of this period. Very few complete pairs of this model survive today.

Dimensions: Male musician 32 × 12 × 13 cm (1065 g); female musician 30 × 11 × 12 cm (773 g).

Condition: Excellent antique condition, minimal tip loss to mandolin.

Please study the accompanying photographs carefully as they form an integral part of this description. If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them. The item will be shipped with full tracking and insurance. It is important to note that shipping costs include labour, packaging and postage.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
