Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Regency dining tables, produced between roughly 1815 and 1830, are characterised by classical proportions, rich mahogany timber, and innovative extending mechanisms. Maker influences such as Gillows of Lancaster introduced turned and reeded legs, smooth runner systems, and versatile leaf inserts.

These tables were primarily constructed using dense, high-grade West Indian or Cuban mahogany, valued for its grain stability. The internal expanding runners were often fashioned from oak or ash for structural strength, fitted with brass clip fasteners and brass castors.

Authentic pieces exhibit crisp hand-carved leg fluting or reeding, original brass castors secured with iron screws, and hand-cut joinery along the aprons and runner frames. Stamped maker marks or numbered leaves that match the main frame also indicate original period manufacture.

A 12-foot mahogany dining table provides a striking anchor in large dining spaces. Contrast the heavy timber by pairing it with streamlined contemporary dining chairs, neutral wool floor coverings, and modern architectural pendant lighting.

Protect the timber finish by keeping the table away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent warping or bleaching. Clean surfaces using a soft cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically, avoiding modern silicone sprays.
