Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency breakfront bookcases feature a projecting central section flanked by two recessed side bays, a layout popularised in early 19th-century Britain. They reflect classical Greek and Roman architectural influences, often incorporating clean symmetry, low proportions, and refined timber veneers.

Craftsmen primarily utilised fine flame mahogany, rosewood, and calamander veneers laid over oak or pine carcases. Decorative accents frequently incorporated cast brass mounts, reeded or turned columns, and ebonised details.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, original timber drawer or shelf backings, wood oxidisation on unseen surfaces, and hand-chased brass hardware. Hand-planed boards and natural wear along the plinth base also indicate historical construction.

Position the bookcase against a primary wall and use the low top surface as a display ledge for table lamps, framed artwork, or decorative ceramics. Mix bound books with sculptural objects on the open shelves to balance functional storage and visual interest.

Dust regularly using a soft, dry, lint-free cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice per year following the direction of the wood grain. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and fluctuating humidity to prevent veneer movement or fading.
