Charles William Norton (C.1870- 1946) - Thatched Cottage at Twilight. Oil on Canvas.

1900 - 1920
Description

An attractive oil on canvas depicting a thatched cottage at twilight a woman walking through a gate by Charles William Norton (c.1870-1946). Charles Norton was a London artist and exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1928.

The work is confidently done with wonderful use of colour and light, the whole scene seeming to pop from the canvas. Signed lower left. The work is housed in an ornate gilt frame. Both work and frame remain in a very good condition.

Inscription verso 'Charles Norton | 103 Deodar Road, Putney'. Charles Norton is listed as residing at 103 Deodar Road in records dated 1917 and 1928 (the latter being the Royal Academy Exhibition artist list).

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
