Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Gothic Revival hall benches feature architectural elements borrowed from medieval church architecture, such as pointed arches, carved tracery, quatrefoils, heraldic shields, and ornamental finials, typically crafted from dark woods like oak.

19th-century hall benches were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods such as English oak, walnut, or mahogany, chosen for their durability and suitability for detailed hand carving.

Authentic period pieces show evidence of hand-carved detailing with subtle irregularities, original pegged joinery or mortise and tenon joints, natural age patina, and historical wear along high-touch areas like seats and armrests.

A carved oak bench serves as a focal piece in entryways, foyers, or wide corridors, balanced against neutral walls, contemporary art, or minimalist flooring to let the intricate woodwork stand out.

Maintain oak furniture by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the wood away from direct heat sources and extreme humidity fluctuations.
