Kendall House Antiques Ltd. has dated this Regency Mahogany Library Chair to the 1850s.
However, this chair also shows similarities to a design by J.C. Loudon, illustrated in his “Encyclopedia of Cottage, Farm and Villa Architecture and Furniture” 1833. Plate 1911.

Neither the Gillows or Loudon illustrations have all the features of our chair, including the S scroll shaped profile back, design led castors that flow with the legs, wider arm supports and the applied central roundels.

The chair we are selling seems far richer in design and is of larger proportions.
Width of chair 64cm.
Height 100cm, Depth 93cm, Width 71cm, Seat Height 45cm
See: Christies Important English Furniture Auction 6 Apr 2000 for a similar example by J.C. Loudon. Sold for £5875 hammer price.
