Mytton Antiques - Jerrard Nares has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The rectangular top finished with an ogre under moulding, over an upper section, being a slide out secretaire, the false drawer fronts opening on stay hinges, to reveal the tooled Moroccan leather writing surface, three drawers and three pigeon holes. The remainder of the body being four drawers.
The drawers and secretaire locked behind a hinged vertical rail. The chest raised up on a rectangular base.
Date circa 1850.
