Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Crafted during the reign of King Edward VII (19011910), Edwardian occasional tables are characterised by balanced proportions, classical revival lines, and geometric inlay work, reflecting a transition away from heavy Victorian designs towards lighter timber constructions.

Hardwoods such as mahogany and satinwood were predominantly used, frequently decorated with ebony stringing, boxwood inlays, or flame mahogany veneers. Construction typically included tapered legs, swept stretchers, and lower tiers or undertiers for structural stability.

Authentic pieces exhibit precise joinery, genuine timber veneers with natural patination, narrow stringing or marquetry lines, and era-appropriate construction beneath the frame. Undersides and secondary timbers often display period-accurate tool marks or light machining from the early 20th century.

Position the table alongside contemporary seating or in an entryway, accessorised with a table lamp, ceramic vessel, or stacked publications. The dark mahogany timber and geometric inlay provide visual weight and historical contrast within modern interior schemes.

Maintain the wood finish by positioning the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer lifting or timber fading. Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish along the wood grain annually to protect the surface.
