Blanc De Chine Huntress (Female Archer), Dehua, C.1890

19th century
Description

Dehua blanc de Chine figure of a female archer, late Qing to early Republic. Rocky base; hat, cloak and patterned tunic with applied pendants; bow, quiver and sword. Female type indicated by facial modelling, waist and shoes. Base underside largely closed with a central vent; unmarked. Workshop production of good quality. The sword is a conventional accessory added to Dehua “warrior” genre models. A good core piece for a focused blanc de Chine cabinet, with early date and unusually complete fragile details.

Condition: excellent antique condition; no chips, cracks or restorations observed.

Dimensions: height 17 cm; weight 249 g.
