Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Marcasite jewellery gained widespread popularity during the Art Deco era of the 1920s and 1930s as an accessible alternative to diamond-set platinum pieces. Craftsmen utilised tiny faceted stones set in silver to create intricate geometric and organic motifs inspired by the eras decorative movements.

Traditional marcasite brooches are constructed using sterling silver or silver-plated base metals set with iron pyrite stones. The stones are cut with flat bases and faceted tops, often secured into individual grain-set or pave settings using jewelers cement and silver beads.

Authentic period pieces feature grain-set stones individually secured in bead settings rather than glued flat into place. Look for sterling silver hallmarks (such as 925 or SILVER), hand-finished millgrain edging, and natural oxidisation along the metal settings.

A vintage brooch can be styled on lapels of tailored blazers, fastened at the neckline of a buttoned shirt, or attached to a silk scarf. It can also be worn as an accent on wool coats, hats, or used as a decorative fasten on knitwear.

Clean marcasite jewellery using a dry silver polishing cloth to remove surface tarnish without disturbing the settings. Avoid submerging the piece in water or liquid chemicals, as moisture dissolves the historic jewelers cement securing the pyrite stones.
