An early 19th century coloured silhouette portrait of an officer, very much in the manner of John Buncombe (fl.1795 - 1825).
Profiles by John Buncombe have been prized from the early 20th century to the present day. His highly distinctive coloured renditions of armed forces personnel dating from the period of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars, are often the sole record of the vagaries of individual regimental dress at that time.
The silhouette and frame remain in a very good clean condition throughout. Label for Rowley Gallery of Kensington, London verso.
