Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Armchairs produced around 1910 often drew inspiration from earlier historic styles, including 17th-century Renaissance and Baroque designs. They typically feature high backrests, detailed wood carving, turned legs with stretchers, and heavy upholstery such as needlepoint tapestry.

Frames were typically crafted from solid hardwoods such as walnut, oak, or beech to support heavy use. The upholstery was composed of hand-woven or machine-woven wool and cotton tapestries, held in place with solid brass upholstery tacks.

Authentic pieces display evidence of hand-finishing on wood carving, hand-set upholstery nails, and age-consistent wear on footrests and armrests. The timber frame should show natural colour variation and joinery techniques typical of early 20th-century cabinetmaking.

These seating pieces can be positioned as accent chairs alongside simple, clean-lined sofas to provide tactile contrast. They also work effectively flanking a fireplace, positioned in a reading nook, or placed at the ends of a dining table.

Tapestry fabric should be vacuumed gently using a low-suction soft brush attachment to prevent dust accumulation. Keep timber and textiles away from direct sunlight and heat sources to minimise fading and prevent wood shrinkage.
