Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Victorian era, small silver containers were crafted to store medicinal pills, lozenges, or small personal items. Retailers and silversmiths created decorated sterling silver boxes that served as portable accessories and symbols of social standing.

These boxes were constructed from sterling silver, meeting British hallmark standards of 925 parts per thousand silver. Techniques included hand-fluting, repousse, engraving, and casting, with hinged lids fitted to ensure precise closure.

Authentic British pieces carry official assay office hallmarks, including the sterling lion passant mark, an assay office symbol, a date letter indicating the exact year of manufacture, and a makers initials mark.

A compact silver box functions effectively on a bedside table, dressing tray, or vanity surface to store daily jewellery, offering functional utility alongside decorative texture.

Clean silver gently using a specialised silver polishing cloth to remove surface tarnish without scratching the metal. Avoid abrasive liquid cleaners or immersion in chemical baths, which can strip natural patina from carved recesses.
