Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency library table typically features a broad rectangular top with rounded corners, integrated frieze drawers, and reeded sabre legs supported by brass caps and castors. Popularised in early nineteenth-century Britain, these substantial tables were constructed for reading, writing, and central placement within formal libraries.

Authentic period desks feature solid mahogany framing overlaid with flame mahogany veneers, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, brass keyhole escutcheons, and cast brass castors. Timber surfaces were traditionally hand-finished with shellac French polish to highlight the natural figure of the wood grain.

Authentic pieces exhibit reeded or turned legs, hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer linings, original brass castors, and secondary timbers such as pine or oak inside the drawers. Natural timber movement, minor shrinkage near joints, and historical wear around the drawer handles also indicate age.

Position the table centrally in an office, library, or open-plan living room to serve as a freestanding desk. Combine the warm timber tones with contemporary table lighting, minimalist leather desk accessories, and modern upholstered seating to complement historical craftsmanship with modern aesthetics.

Position the desk away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer movement and fading. Dust regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish twice a year to maintain the protective finish and natural luster.
