Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian Arts and Crafts furniture is characterised by a focus on structural honesty, natural timber grain, and simplified decorative motifs. Emerging in the early 20th century, it rejected heavy Victorian ornamentation in favour of functional forms and handcrafted details.

Makers favoured solid hardwoods such as walnut, oak, and mahogany for their durability and attractive grain patterns. Seats were frequently upholstered in leather, velvet, or woven fabrics, supported by iron revolving mechanisms.

Authentic pieces feature cast iron turn-and-tilt mechanisms, solid timber construction, and traditional joinery. Look for age-appropriate wear to the base, natural patina on the wood, and original castors or leg terminations.

A timber desk chair offers a warm contrast when paired with modern glass, painted, or minimalist writing tables. It serves as a focal piece in home offices, libraries, or reading nooks.

Clean the timber surfaces using a soft cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to maintain the moisture and lustre of the wood. Upholstery should be lightly brushed or vacuumed using a fabric attachment, and mechanical swivel components can be oiled sparingly.
