Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian dining chair design emerged during the 18th century, emphasizing balanced proportions, functional form, and native timbers such as oak. Chairs from this era frequently featured vertical splats, often pierced, along with straight or tapered legs suitable for daily dining.

These chairs were primarily constructed from solid oak using traditional hand-woodworking methods. Frame components were secured with mortise and tenon joinery, whilst structural stretchers connected the lower legs to reinforce the seat frame.

Authentic period pieces display signs of hand-planed timber, subtle variations in symmetry, and natural wood shrinkage near joints. Pegged construction and irregular saw marks on the undersides further indicate pre-industrial hand assembly.

Period oak seating pairs effectively with contemporary minimalist dining tables or stone surfaces to create visual contrast. Incorporating neutral textiles and natural lighting highlights the deep timber grain while grounding the space.

Regular dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and periodic application of clear beeswax polish helps protect the timber finish. Keeping solid oak away from direct heat sources and high humidity prevents warping or splitting.
