Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Hoshiarpur, located in the Punjab region of India, became a celebrated centre for woodworking in the late nineteenth century. Local artisans specialised in inlaying fine brass wire, bone, and ivory into dense hardwoods, producing decorative furniture and accessories largely tailored for colonial and export markets.

These pieces are typically constructed from native hardwoods such as shisham or rosewood. The decorative patterns are created by chiselling fine channels into the timber surface, hammering in thin brass sheet or wire, and pairing the inlay with hand-carved openwork or jaali panels.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut brass inlay flush with the wood surface, showing subtle variations from manual hand-tooling. Look for dense hardwood construction, hand-carved geometric lattice screens, and natural age-related patination on both the timber and metallic elements.

Inlaid mirrors function as rich visual accents that contrast well against plain painted or tiled surfaces. Displaying them as a pair on a gallery wall or positioning them above a console table provides architectural interest and reflects light without overwhelming contemporary decor scheme.

Dust the frames regularly with a dry, lint-free cloth, avoiding liquid chemicals or abrasive polishes that could lift the metal wire or damage the wood finish. Keep the mirrors in a dry environment away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage and loss of inlay.
